THE NZ KATIPŌ ICON is the official icon of the international tenpin bowling teams of TBNZ.
The icon represents a Katipō spider (‘Night Stinger’ in Māori) which is known for its deadly strike. The upper-left ‘arm’ of the spider features a traditional silver fern. The lower abdomen features a bowling ball, while the distinctive red stripe of the Katipō is designed in the shape of a traditional Māori Taiaha (spear).
